I was thrilled to have given a talk to CUVZS students about feeding and nutrition of birds last week (24th October 2019) along with our veterinary advisor Prof. John E. Cooper, Margaret E. Cooper and the fourth generation of Haith’s bird seed, Miss Rosie Haith BSc.
It’s always a pleasure to share the stage with John and Margaret Cooper who have both worked tirelessly to help Haith’s create an award-winning quality control process. Here they can be seen delivering a lecture to Cambridge University Veterinary Zoological Society, and sharing our research on feeding and nutrition of birds.
Prof. Cooper discussed the ‘importance of avian nutrition’, and Margaret the ‘legal and ethical considerations of feeding birds.’
Rosie Haith gave an insightful talk on the ‘importance of a scientific approach to diets and feeding’ highlighting the giant leap Haith’s has made in its award-winning Super-Clean bird seed quality control project.
My view: If we’re going to feed wildlife (and I personally believe that we should) we must ideally do so with high-quality, safe diets. That’s why we’re committed to ensuring our QC process remains at the heart of our manufacturing process as to us it’s simple: Healthy diet, healthy birds.
A productive event, and a great opportunity to share our research with student vets.
Thanks to CUVZS for the invite (and pizza/chocolates).
