Egg-based paste
Egg binds the dry blend into a firmer paste that can be moulded around a hookbait, formed into free offerings or rolled and boiled.
- More structure
- Slower breakdown
- Can become boilies
Haith's Baits · Attraction without the shell
Paste starts releasing attraction as water reaches it. Choose an egg-based paste when you need more structure, or a water-based paste when rapid breakdown is the priority.

Choose the liquid
The dry ingredient matters, but the liquid changes how the finished paste behaves. Decide whether you need durability or speed before reaching for the mixing bowl.
Egg binds the dry blend into a firmer paste that can be moulded around a hookbait, formed into free offerings or rolled and boiled.
Water creates a simpler paste that begins breaking down quickly, helping attraction escape into the swim without a boiled outer skin.
Useful starting points
Route one · Egg-based
Beat the eggs first, then add the dry blend gradually. Work the thickening paste until it is firm enough to shape without cracking or sticking excessively.

Take a suitable pinch and press it into a flat disc in the palm.

Place the hookbait presentation in the centre of the paste.

Fold and shape the paste carefully around the hookbait.
Route two · Water-based
Add water gradually to the dry blend and mix until it forms a workable paste. Water-based paste generally breaks down faster than its egg-bound equivalent, releasing attraction quickly.

The margin test
Place a sample in shallow water and observe its behaviour. Check how quickly the surface softens, how the paste holds together and when particles begin to release. Adjust the next test deliberately, one variable at a time.
