This policy explains how John E. Haith Limited uses personal information when you shop with us, visit our website or app, contact us, or interact with our brands.

Company number: 698173

What information do we collect?
Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect your name, contact and delivery details; account and order information; subscription, payment-status and returns information; messages and customer-service notes; marketing preferences; and technical information such as your IP address, device details and website or app activity. Calls may be recorded where our telephone service uses recording. We may receive relevant information from our ecommerce, payment, delivery and customer-service providers.
We do not need your complete payment-card details to fulfil an order and do not store them ourselves. If information is necessary to process your order or provide a requested service, we may be unable to do so without it.
Why do we use your information?
- To provide goods and services: processing orders and payments, arranging delivery or collection, managing subscriptions and accounts, and handling returns. Our lawful basis is normally performance of a contract with you.
- To meet legal duties: keeping required accounting and tax records and responding to lawful requests. Our lawful basis is legal obligation.
- To run and protect the business: answering enquiries, resolving complaints, preventing fraud, maintaining security, improving our services and training staff. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- To send marketing: where you have consented or where the law allows us to contact an existing customer about similar products or services. You can object to direct marketing at any time. We follow the applicable rules for each communication method.
- To use optional cookies and similar technologies: where permission is required and you have given it through our cookie controls.
We may also use information where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We do not sell your personal information.
Who receives your information?
We share only the information needed for a proper purpose. Recipients may include authorised staff and contractors; Shopify and other ecommerce providers; payment and fraud-prevention providers; delivery companies; suppliers fulfilling particular items, including live-food orders; providers of customer service, live chat, email, reviews, apps, analytics and IT; and professional advisers or public authorities where appropriate or required by law.
These organisations may act as our processors or as independent controllers, depending on their role. We require providers acting on our behalf to protect information and use it only for the agreed services.
International transfers
Some providers may process personal information outside the United Kingdom. Where a transfer is subject to UK data-protection rules, we use an applicable legal mechanism, such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to approved Standard Contractual Clauses, as appropriate. You can contact us for more information about safeguards relevant to your information.
How long do we keep information?
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected and for applicable tax, accounting, consumer, fraud-prevention and legal-claims requirements. Order records, account details, customer-service correspondence and marketing preferences may have different retention periods. We may keep a limited record of an unsubscribe request so that we continue to respect it. When information is no longer needed, we delete it, anonymise it or securely restrict its use where immediate deletion is not possible.
Marketing and your choices
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in each message. For other marketing preferences, email enquiries@haiths.com or call 0800 298 7054 and tell us which contact method you want changed. You do not need to use a particular format or provide an account number to object to direct marketing. We may still send messages needed to manage your account or order.
Where relevant and permitted, communications may relate to another Haith’s brand. We will respect your choices and the rules that apply to the communication.
Cookies
Necessary cookies and similar technologies help operate functions such as security, accounts, shopping baskets and checkout. Other technologies may support preferences, analytics or advertising. Optional technologies are used only where permitted, including after consent where consent is required.
You can accept, reject or change optional-cookie choices using the website’s cookie controls. Those controls provide current information about the categories and technologies in use. Changing your choice does not undo processing that has already occurred.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access or correct your information, request erasure or restriction, object to certain uses, receive certain information in a portable format, or withdraw consent. You can object to direct marketing at any time. These rights are subject to legal conditions and exceptions.
To make a request, email enquiries@haiths.com, call 0800 298 7054, or write to the Louth address above. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Security and complaints
We use organisational and technical measures intended to protect personal information. Our website uses HTTPS to protect information while it travels between your device and the service. No transmission or storage method is completely secure.
Please contact us if you have a concern so we can investigate it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The date above shows when it was last revised.
