Help a Hedgehog.

"Hedgehogs have declined by around a third since the millennium" - The State of Nature report, 2013.

The horizon is uncertain for our friend the Hedgehog. Whilst wildlife charities and conservation experts consider what can be done to help protect what's left of the Hedgehog population, take action in your own garden to feed and protect them. Don't wait! Do something today.

Our Hedgehog Mix provides an energy-boosting, protein-rich addition to a Hedgehog's natural diet. A blend with good levels of carbohydrate-rich grains, which can be fed in small dishes or straight from the ground.

Whatever you do decide to put out for your Hedgehog, do not put out bread and milk! Certainly, Hedgehog's will eat them - but the swelling of bread in their stomach, and the fact that cows milk gives Hedgehogs diarrhoea, means that it is not the best thing to give them by a long stretch.

Instead, put out fresh water, in a shallow dish, to make sure that your spiky friend doesn't suffer from malnutrition.

Only to be used as an addition to a hedgehogs natural diet

Can be fed in small dishes or straight on the ground.

Please Note: Our products are manufactured in a facility that handles nuts and may contain traces of nuts.

Re Hedgehog Food

Strangely I haven't seen any hedgehogs this year although the food we put down disappears quickly enough. Whether the hedgehogs come and we just miss them or whether the dratted all-pervasive pigeons get to it first I can't fathom. (Must keep a closer eye on the garden.) I'm going to try just putting the food out at night (hope the pigeons will all be asleep then). My husband calls pigeons 'Rats on Wings' though so if the food disappears at night it could still be them. Any ideas? Mina

Hello Mina, thank you for your email. It is great that the food is going, The only way your going to find out if the Hedgehogs are eating it is maybe have some sort of camera set up in your garden, as the hedgehogs only come out at night time.

Not suitable for hedgehogs

This food is completely unsuitable for hedgehogs. The mix contains oats and nuts, which hedgehogs shouldn’t be fed. Hedgehogs need protein and calcium, not carbohydrates and phosphorous

Hello Joanne, I am sorry to hear that our hedgehog food has not met your expectations. We do say on our website that this is an addition to a hedgehog's daily diet. The mix does include high protein crumbs, to give our hedgehogs an extra boost. Hope this helps, but please be assured I'll pass your comments on.

Garden Organic Hedgehogs

My Hedgehogs Lilly and Twiggy Do the work for me in the garden, with snails and slugs, so at night they get their treat of Haiths hedgehog food which disappears at night so they must love it and helps them to maintain their weight for winter when in hibernation.

Hello Anthony, it sounds as if Lilly and Twiggy are very deserving of their nightly treat. We're glad that our Hedgehog food goes down well after the main course of slugs and snails.
