Why Our Badger Mix is the Right Choice for Badgers

Our carefully balanced Badger Mix is designed to mirror the omnivorous diet of wild badgers, combining protein, healthy fats, fibre, and energy-rich carbohydrates in a way that supports their natural feeding habits and seasonal needs.

Premium Peanuts

Peanuts are a firm favourite for badgers - high in energy, rich in fats and protein, and easy to eat. We've reduced the quantity slightly to avoid excess fat, but they remain an important part of the mix, providing sustained energy and flavour.

Groats (Oat Kernels)

Replacing a portion of peanuts with oat groats gives the mix a healthy, slow-release energy source. Groats are soft, easy to digest, and more reflective of the roots, bulbs and grains badgers naturally forage. They also help moderate the fat content, supporting a more balanced diet.

Raisins

Raisins offer natural sugars, fibre and antioxidants - just like the fallen fruit and berries badgers often seek out in hedgerows. They also encourage foraging behaviour and add palatability to the mix. A little sweetness goes a long way.

Sunflower Hearts

Husk-free and nutritious, sunflower hearts are a rich source of protein and unsaturated fats. They’re cleaner than whole seeds, reduce mess, and provide a valuable energy boost - significant during colder months.

Whole Wheat

Wheat adds bulk and carbohydrates to help badgers feel full without overloading on fat or protein. It’s a standard component of the wild omnivore diet, helping to balance the nutritional mix both nutritionally and economically.

Oystershell Grit

Though it’s a small addition, the grit aids digestion - which is essential when feeding dry food. It also provides calcium to support bone and dental health.

Balanced: With carbs, protein, fat, and fibre in proportion.

Natural: Mimicking wild diets with fruits, seeds, nuts, and grains.

Practical: No sharp husks, easy to eat, and weather-resistant.

Safe and beneficial: Supporting energy levels, digestion, and overall well-being.

Whether you’re feeding a visiting badger family or supporting wildlife in a sanctuary setting, this mix offers a premium, responsible way to nourish Britain’s nocturnal foragers.

Please note: Bird seed recipes may change without notice in line with crop availability, but we'll always select a suitable seed replacement. Contains peanuts.
