New Recipe – Now Better Value!

Crafted for Greenfinches' unique needs, this new recipe combines vitality, variety, and natural nourishment. We have carefully selected each ingredient to reflect the British Greenfinch’s natural diet, promote feather health, and support year-round well-being.

Why Greenfinches Love It

Greenfinches are known for their love of oil-rich seeds - but not all seeds are created equal. This blend offers a diverse and digestible mix designed explicitly for captive environments with limited access to wild food. Our new recipe introduces a brilliant selection of seeds birds love and thrive on.

Key Ingredients & Their Benefits

Safflower
A premium oilseed that supports feather gloss and body condition. Its more rigid shell encourages beak use and natural feeding behaviour.

White Sunflower
A softer, more manageable sunflower for cage birds - rich in essential fats and highly palatable.

Canary Seed
A Greenfinch staple - easily digested, low in fat, and ideal for maintaining energy levels without over-conditioning.

Hempseed
Nutrient-dense and full of omega oils and protein. Encourages feather regeneration and breeding vitality.

Nigerseed
Finches love it. This tiny seed is rich in healthy fats and supports high energy demands, particularly during colder months.

Linseed (Brown)
Rich in omega-3 oils to help support glossy plumage and skin health - perfect for the moulting season.

Red Millet
Easily eaten and enjoyed. It adds variety and texture, boosting visual appeal while remaining low in fat.

Naked Oats
A husk-free grain that provides slow-release energy. Gentle on the digestive system and well-tolerated in mixed aviaries.

Black Sunflower
It is a high-energy favourite, particularly in colder weather. A slightly thinner shell than striped variants makes it easier for aviary birds.

Pumpkin Hearts
A touch of premium indulgence. High in beneficial fats and natural antioxidants to support immunity and condition.

greenfinch mix

My latest bag of greenfinch mix is not up to usual standard. Lots more small seeds of poor quality like small linseed; niger and what looks like very poor canary seed, There are others I cannot identify. I cannot see the usual pine nuts, fortunately there are NO BUCK WHEAT seeds.

Hello Alan,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our Greenfinch Mix. We are sorry to hear that your latest bag did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your feedback and we will definitely pass this onto the relevant team. Please feel free to contact us at enquiries@haiths.com if you would like to contact us further regarding this. never again

I purchased the greenfinch mix to try out. This was because all the other mixed seeds I have purchased from Haiths, I was getting too much wasted seed that the birds just do not eat. But oh dear, what a disaster. Thousands of what I believe are buckwheat and white sunflower seeds left. So I am gradually disposing of about 8kgs of a 12kg bag of this mix in my refuse bin at about 1kg at a time. Too much to dispose of in one go. I will no longer purchase their mixed seeds and just buy straight seeds instead.

Hello Davi, many thanks for your review. Please be assured that we will certainly pass your comments on to our development team.

One particular seed left in the hopper

First time i have used this mix for greenfinches, usually have BFM. I have noticed one partricular seed is always left in the hopper. I believe it may be buckwheat?

Hello Paul, many thanks for your review & image of buckwheat. Buckwheat helps to provide fibre and vitamins to birds.
