Birds have got used to them after about 5 days and are now using them al of the time. I'm glad I chose the metal ones as a squirrel has noticed them, - which I don't mind! I'm sure it would have chewed through plastic ones though. Haven't tried cleaning them yet, but they appear to be easy to take apart as in the instructions.
