Effective

The feeders have deterred the squirrels and rooks who could empty a standard feeder in one day but the small birds have been very reluctant to use them. Hopefully they will use them before the fat balls go mouldy.

Really keeps the squirrels off.

This is great it really does keep the squirrels off even our enormously clever and resourceful one. The starlings get through the defences and some blackbirds have mastered the technique. No problem for woodpeckers or sparrows.

The fat ball feeder looks great but we are still having trouble getting birds into the garden

Won't Deter Starlings

"While I expect this feeder will deter squirrels, starlings can still feed, flapping and taking ages, which is a distraction for smaller birds. The 3 clips are very stiff, so mind your fingers! I expect this will improve with time."

Resistant But Still Vulnerable To Sharp Squirrel Teeth

"This is a good fat ball holder. It is easy to take apart and fill and the birds took to it within minutes of my hanging it up. A few of the tits took a moment or two to figure out how to reach the fat balls but since then it has been crowded with eager little birds. Needless to say it has also attracted squirrels - I am suffering an invasion of the marauding creatures at the moment - and in only a day they had managed to gnaw a chunk out of the lid. Extraordinary! The same lot have destroyed a plastic bin lid in under a week so all in all the feeder is holding up well."
