To help feed hens and during the moult, wise bird breeders use Haith's Easisoak Seed. Why? Because life's more manageable with Easisoak.

During the breeding season (and the moult) Easisoak is an invaluable nutritive bird diet for Canaries, British Birds, Hybrids and Budgerigars (read this for budgies). All the seeds in Easisoak are selected for their germinating ability and suitability for soaking. A great help to bird breeders!

Prepare only as much as is required daily and discard uneaten remains each evening to prevent potential moulds from harming the birds.

The reason for soaking seed is to assist the young bird to digest it more easily and, of course, the sprouted seed is at its most nutritional. If you require sprouted seeds, they will not sprout in water it must have air to give them the oxygen to grow, this is best done in a proper seed sprouter/germinator or in a propagator.

Directions for use:

  • Use enough seed to last for no more than three days
  • Thoroughly rinse the seed in clean water before allowing it to drain
  • Add warm water and soak for eighteen hours, keep the seed covered with a damp cloth in a warm place
  • For safe serving, we recommend sterilising newly sprouted seed by soaking it in a solution of 10ml Milton sterilising fluid to 1 litre of water for 5 minutes, then rinsing thoroughly with fresh water.
  • Change water by rinsing seed in a sieve - it is then ready for feeding
  • Rinse before each feed
